The customer’s garage door used extension springs, which require replacement every few years. The last time was a few years ago.
Spring replacement is much easier when the springs haven’t broken and caused the door to lock yet. Opening the door all the way and locking it there ourselves helped release more tension, to begin with, and easing the caps off and replacing the springs was safer and faster for it.
